Sounding Waters: Tokyo Rivers (2013)

Multi-channel surround sound composition installed in Beltone Anechoic Chamber (National Centre for Audiology in London, Ontario). Underwater recordings from beneath bridges along Tokyo’s three major rivers are placed at coordinates in surround sound space which correspond to their geographic locations.

10-minute composition renders a composite "sound map" of the river system, gradually sweeping from the highest to lowest audible frequencies captured. Headphone listening is recommended.

Part of a body of work entitled Point-Line-Intersection that examines interrelationships between culture and natural water systems.
